15 miles south on Highway 47, visitors can enjoy Lake City’s most famous attraction, Ichetucknee Springs State Park. Tube, Snorkle or Scuba the six mile long crystal clear. Ichetuckenne River. Hike the trails and see one of Florida’s spectacular springs, the Icketucknee Blue Hole.
20 miles southwest, visitors can enjoy a day trip to O’leno State Park. This 6,000 acre park is located along the Sante Fe River. Activities include swimming, canoeing, hiking, fishing and horseback riding. A suspension bridge built by the civilian conservation corps in the 1930’s still spans the river.
15 miles north, visitors can find the place that honors the man who made the Suwanee River famous at Stephens Foster State Park and Cultural Center. On 850 acres, the center is a gathering place for folk traditions of crafts, art and music. Hiking, bicycling, canoeing and wildlife observation are just of some of the activities available at the park.
20 miles north, visitors can stop at Big Shoals State Park, the only white water rapids in the state of Florida. The shoals are part of the Suwanee River and include a one mile stretch of rapids. When the water level is between 59 and 61 feet mean sea level, the rapids earn a Class III White water classification for kayaking. 15 minutes east of Lake City on Highway 90, Civil War buffs can tour Olustee Battlefield Historic State Park commemorating the site of Florida's largest Civil War battle or attend the annual battle reenactments held every February or the Civil War Expo in late summer.
